Coaching, Leadership & Volunteering Opportunities
Moffat is an up and coming haven for sport and with it the need for qualified coaches and volunteers is inevitable. Without coaches and volunteers many clubs and coaching sessions would not happen, therefore local clubs welcome new coaches and volunteers whether it be a coach, cleaner or somebody behind the scenes helping the club grow.
A calendar of CPD and NGB coach education courses and workshops is available in Dumfries & Galloway and is organised by the Coaching Development Officer for Active Schools & Community Sport. For further information on up and coming courses available or for any personal or specific training needs please contact Hayley Powell, Active Schools & Community Sport Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org who will help you with your queries.
Information on continual professional development, coach education opportunities and a wide range of coaching information can also be found on the sportscotland website at www.sportscotland.org.uk/coaching. You can also visit specific national governing bodies of sport websites who run several NGB accredited courses throughout the year. Active Schools & Community Sport also work with schools and teachers to highlight any CPD requirements and organise the relevant training.
Active Schools & Community Sport run programmes for young people wishing to get involved in sports leadership and coaching. These range from Sports Leaders UK, Leadership Academies and Young Sports Ambassadors. These courses help develop essential life skills including organisation, motivation, communication and working with others, all of which enable Sports Leaders to inspire people in their community to live more active and healthy lifestyles. Young people are encouraged to get involved in delivering sessions in school, after school, community and club programmes. Contact Active Schools & Community Sport for more information on Young Sports Leadership.
Interested volunteers can find club contact details on the club pages part of the website, therefore if you are interested in helping with any of the clubs or activities please get in touch. Alternatively, contact Active Schools & Community Sport who are experienced in working with, supporting and developing volunteers.
